Our family lives in Eunma Apartment in Gangnam. My father, whose business had got tough, had borrowed money using the house with security. Monthly interests has become a bit too much for him, but he never thinks about selling the house in expecting that the price of the house might be going up. I don't quite understand him. But as time goes by I get to know our family's economic situation, and as I can feel his anxiety about the price of the house I am also being uneasy. Could he ever sell Eunma Apartment?

Director's Statement

Documentary 'My father's house' shows how the identity of one family is formed when the desire to raise an affluent family and aspirations for the education of children come together during the rapid development of Korean society which regarded growth and development as a religion.

My father who had worked at a construction company for a long time also had such beliefs, and he worked out a strategy to buy a house in Gangnam. 'My father's house' started out from the questions I had about the political awareness of my father who supported the conservative party despite the fact that he was not part of the establishment even though he lived in Gangnam. I also retraced the history of labor of my parents and the lives of my family.
